In this course we highlight the challenges batteries pose to the fire and rescue services in the United Kingdom. The course provides detail on the hazards of batteries and their current uses as well as potential future applications.
The course is split into four sections that are meant to last between 10 and 15 minutes each. Section 1 discusses what a battery is and how they are used, section 2 looks at the hazards of lithium and sodium batteries followed by section 3 which looks at other batteries such as lead-acid, alkaline and nickel-cadmium. After this we provide references to websites on the incidents included as well as useful resources on battery technology.
