Course Overview
In this course we highlight the challenges of waste fires and the impact they have had on the fire and rescue services in the United Kingdom. The course provides detail on the hazards of typical materials found in non-hazardous waste such as plastics, metals and tyres.
The course is split into four sections that are meant to last between 10 and 15 minutes each. Section 1 discusses the challenges and how waste is classified, section 2 looks at the hazards of plastic and metal waste followed by section 3 which highlights tyre fires. After this we provide references to websites on the incidents included as well as useful resources such as NOG, NFCC and WISH guidance.
